New Captain barbell more spectacular than the first one

GMA 7 is leaving no stone unturned to make sure the return of “Captain Barbell” will be bigger and more spectacular than the first one aired four years ago. They got an Australian production designer, Peter Collias, to do the sets and overall design. Collias worked in such hit Hollywood flicks “The Matrix” and “Moulin Rouge” that were partly filmed in Sydney. The costumes not only of Captain Barbell but the other superheroes who will be collaborating with him in the fight against evil are designed by Walt Disney costume maker Emily Lai and made at the noted Cube Decor in Hongkong.

“Captain Barbell is our own homegrown superhero so he deserves nothing but the best,” says Richard Gutierrez who’s so happy to play the role again, fresh from the success of his hosting job in “Survivor Philippines” and his recent blockbuster film “My Valentine Girls”. “Lahat kami sa cast and crew are all excited with the start of ‘Captain Barbell’ on March 28 as we know the viewers will really enjoy lahat ng hirap at puyat namin to make sure every single episode of ‘Captain Barbell’ is worth their time.”

He has four leading ladies: Isabel Oli, Lovi Poe, Michelle Madrigal, and Solenn Heussaff, with child wonder Jillian Ward as his lovable sidekick. His own dad Eddie Gutierrez will play General Armada, the leader of the Freedom League (Liga ng Kalayaan) of other superheroes who’ll be Richard’s allies. Christopher de Leon will the evil villain, Nero. The star-studded cast also includes TJ Trinidad, Bianca King, Mike Tan, Sam Pinto, Elvis Gutierrez, Paolo Paraiso, Marky Lopez, Ces Quesada, Ervic Vijandre, Frencheska Farr, Akihiro Sato, Jon Hall, Ellen Adarna and the teen love team of Bea Binene and Jake Vargas, directed by Dominic Zapata.
