New Sandwich album shows they really rock

AT A TIME when a lot of Pinoy rock bands like E’Heads, Bamboo, Sugarfree and Hale have disbanded, it’s good Sandwich has remained active. Their last album “S Marks the Spot” was in 2008 yet so their fans are pleased that PolyEast Records just released their new album, “Contra Tiempo”, at Eastwood Plaza.

Sandwich is headed by Raimund Marasigan (keyboards), along with Myrene Academia (bass), Mike Dizon (drums), Mong Alcaraz and Diego Castillo (guitars). Their album has 12 new songs with “Lakad” as their kick off single, but it’s the song “Pera Pera” that we now hear getting great airplay to follow in the footsteps of their past hits like “Sugod”, “Sunburn” and “Walang Kadaladala”. “Putik” will also most likely be a favorite, especially by those who experienced Ondoy’s floods. Other good cuts are “Takbo”, “Dispalinghado”, “Sugatan”, “Lapit Lapit Lapit”, “Stranded sa Airport”, “Bisikleta” and “Downhill”. These guys really know how to rock!

PolyEast has also relased the compilation album of Sugarfree’s greatest hits now that they’ve disbanded. It has their most popular songs like Hari Ng Sablay, Makita Kang Muli, Tulog Na, Hang Over, Telepono and their hit cover of the Apo Hiking Society’s Batang-bata Ka Pa. This is certainly a must have for their fans especially now that we heard their vocalist, Ebe Dancel, is doing his first solo album.
