WHEN Q11 became GMA News TV, they retained their showbiz talk show, “Tweetbiz Insiders”, but only Tim Yap was retained among its hosts. The other two, Mr. Fu and Shivaker, were replaced by Lolit Solis and Gelli de Belen. With them are the Tweeterazzi led by showbiz writers Gorgy Rula and Ronnie Carasco, Danzen Santos, Justine Ferrer,
Fabio Ide and comedienne Chariz Solomon. Tim used to write about high society. How did he get into showbiz ? “Before, I had lifestyle shows on Q11 like ‘Living It Up’ and ‘Events Inc.’ When they offered me to host ‘Tweetbiz’, I accepted it kasi public service ito. It’s news but delivered in an entertaining way. It made me reach more people. Even security guards recognize me now. In sosyal affairs at the Polo Club, matrons will approach me and tell me they watch ‘Tweetbiz’ then ask me about the stars we report on the show.”
What’s the difference between high society and showbiz? “Not much. For me, ang tao ay tao ay tao. They have the same feelings, egos, insecurities.”
Born on January 17, 1980, Tim finished high school in St. Jude then took up marketing in La Salle and masters in entrepreneurship at AIM. He was a theatre actor before, singing and dancing in plays like “West Side Story” and “Lost in Yonkers”. “But I realized I’m a better host than anything else. I’m now enjoying it and loving hosting ‘Tweetbiz’. Maganda ang samahan namin nina Gelli de Belen and Nay Lolit Solis. Everyone is very open and we all jelled easily.
