Wendell Ramos kills his director on Babaeng Hampaslupa

WENDELL RAMOS was formally welcomed by TV5 as the newest addition to the cast of their hit show, “Babaeng Hampaslupa”, with a lunch presscon at Mario’s. It’s obvious he’s happy with his transfer to the Kapatid network and has no regrets about it. “When I first reported on the set of ‘Babaeng Hampaslupa’, I felt their warm welcome,” he says. “They made me feel comfortable agad.” He plays Harry, the assassin hired by Katarina (Bing Loyzaga) to kill Atty. Go (Eric Quizon, also the show’s director.) “I’m happy to be working with Eric as he has directed me before in ‘Marinara’ on GMA-7. On the first day I reported sa set, he told me my first scene shows me killing him. Kasisimula ko pa lang, may pinatay agad ako, yung director pa namin. Eventually, magiging love triangle kami rito nina Alice Dixson and Jay Manalo.”

How is it working with Bing and Alice? “I worked with Bing in several GMA soaps, starting with their first afternoon drama ‘Sinasamba Kita’ that rated well. Si Alice naman, naging guest namin then sa ‘Bahay Mo Ba’To’ so this isn’t the first time I’m working with them kaya palagay na loob namin sa isa’t isa.”

Did he somehow feel sad when he said goodbye to GMA to move to TV5 and they didn’t make a counter offer? “No, I really wanted a change of environment. GMA has been good to me, but 15 years na ako with them and I never had a formal contract. I felt it’s about time I try something new and it so happens TV5 has a bigger offer. My TV5 contract is for two years, two soaps a year and a sitcom. I’m now also in ‘Happier Together’ with Kuya Joey Marquez. I play Cesar, a know it all na maraming ideas pero puro walang kuwenta. It’s fun.”

“Babaeng Hampaslupa” promises to be more engrossing in the next few weeks. Anastacia (Alice) is about to meet Dora (Ann Villegas), the yaya who knows the truth about what happened to her baby girl who grew up as a garbage girl, Grace (Alex Gonzaga). Alex, in turn, will finally agree to go steady with Andrew (Martin Escudero), the adopted son of Anastacia. Also, watch out for the return of an important character who’ll surely shock the followers of the show.
