CRISTINE REYES is glad the
rift between her and Sarah Geronimo is over. “We’ve both moved on at nagbabatian na kami when we see each other sa ABS. I’m happy ako kumita ang last movie niya,” she says. Now, she’s the one with a new movie to be shown on May 4, “Tumbok”, a horror drama directed by Topel Lee. How is it working with Topel Lee and her leading man, Carlo Aquino? “Direk Topel is a perfectionist. He studies each scene very carefully before we shoot it, simple man or heavy scenes. I’m learning a lot from him kasi magaling talaga siya. He really knows how to scare viewers at tiyak matatakot sila rito. Carlo plays my husband. This is our second time after ‘Working Girls’. Hindi na matatawaran ang kakayahan niya since he’s been winning awards maski noong child actor pa lang siya. We move to this unit in an old building and strange things start happening, kasi tumbok yun o nasa gitna ng kalye. It’s a physically demanding role kasi ang dami kong hirap na pinagdaanan dito.”
Does she believe in the superstition about “tumbok” houses being bad? “Yes. Sina Richard (Gutierrez), yung bahay nila sa Dasmarinas Village, tumbok, talaga raw marami silang nakikitang mga babaeng multo.”
Carlo said if she’s not on with Rayver Cruz, he’d woo her. How does she feel? “I can’t imagine na aabot kami sa ganung level. Kapatid lang talaga ang tingin ko sa kanya, although may kissing scene kami in ‘Tumbok’.”
So how’s Rayver? “Okay, masaya kami.” They became officially on on Sept. 14 so they’ve been together for 7 months now. What qualities of Rayver does she like the most? “Very romantic. Sweet. Malambing at talagang napakabait. Wala akong mako-complain.”
Has she asked Rayver what he likes in her? “Yun daw pagiging makulit ko kasi nahahawa siya. May pagka-prim and proper kasi yun, lalo na sa harap ng ibang tao. Pero kapag kasama niya ko, nailalabas niya ang kakulitan niya,” she laughs.
