GLORIA ROMERO wants to correct the impression that her transfer to GMA-7 was done in haste. “Hindi ito madalian,” she says. “When I did movies with GMA Films like ‘Moments of Love’ na I’m the older version of Iza Calzado and ‘Let the Love Begin’ na lola ako ni Richard Gutierrez, they already offered me to do a TV show with them. Kaya lang, I was busy then with ABS kaya hindi ko natanggap. E, nabakante ko sa ABS so when they offered me to do ‘Munting Heredera’, I accepted it kasi before I get to be 80, I want to try working with other networks naman. Now, sharp pa memory ko, but when 80 na ako, baka hirap na ako mag-memorya ng lines ko, di ba? I’m 77 now, so bale three years na lang yun. Ayokong magka-alzheimer's disease. But I’m thankful to ABS kasi nagpaalam ako at pinayagan naman nila ako-7 to work with GMA. I’ve been working with them since 1987 in ‘Palibhasa Lalake’. So far naman, enjoy ako sa GMA. Sobra silang maalaga. I told them nga not to pamper me so much.”
How does she feel about her role as Donya Anastacia in “Munting Heredera” that starts airing tonight? “She’s rich, but because she worked so hard when she was young kaya she doesn’t tolerate laziness among the people around her. The role is challenging kasi paiba-iba ang mood niya. One moment, sobrang strict, but the next, biglang sweet at malambing na lola. Tapos, darating ang point na she’ll lose all her riches dahil maraming tao plotting against her para maagaw ang kayamanan niya. With the help of Direk Maryo de los Reyes who directed me sa movies na ‘Magnifico’ and ‘Kamoteng Kahoy’ before, I know makakaya ko namang gampanan ng tama ang role na ito.”
