Karylle on her parents annulment

HOW DOES singer-actress Karylle feel about the annulment of the marriage of her parents, Zsa Zsa Padilla and dentist Dr. Modesto Tatlonghari? “I’m happy for them kasi the petition was filed in 2001 yet,” she says. “I was the one who requested my mom to wait for me to finish college muna before filing the petition. Now, it’s finally granted.” Her mom was only 16 when she married her dad in a civil ceremony in 1980. They were also married later in church. Her dad was already 35 then. They separated in 1987. In 1989, Zsa Zsa hooked up with Dolphy and they’ve been living together ever since.

Karylle’s own career continues to flourish. After she got positive feedback for her role as the vengeful ghost in “Dalaw”, she’s in three new big projects. She’s the lead actress in the musical play “Light in the Piazza” and also in the first Pan-Asian television musical set in a restaurant, “The Kitchen Musical” that will be aired in more than 20 other countries including Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. For the latter, she’ll be staying in Singapore for four months to shoot the whole show. She’s also now the face of the second installment of the international hit viral campaign, “Nigel and Victoria”, for Philips that premieres this June. A runaway success in Europe, Russia and the United Kingdom, the comedy series features the fictional off-screen romance between the sexy, gadget-crazy Victoria who reviews Philips products in a very personal way. Nigel is the guy who just can’t stop interfering with her. The campaign got nearly a million views on Facebook and more than a million in other venues like media platforms and blogs. The first series ended with a cliffhanger and the new one shows Nigel searching all over the world for the perfect product reviewer to replace Victoria. Karylle will star in this second series. She flew to London and Amsterdam last week to shoot the episodes where she professionally reviewed Philips’ new range of headphones and notebook accessories that will appear at Philips.com and across the internet.
