RICKY DAVAO started directing for GMA-7 as second unit director of “Grazilda”. He now megs “Sisid” solo, one of the two shows launched today by GMA, the other one being “Amaya”. Ricky wants to stress “Sisid” is not a remake of a bold Seiko Films flick with the same title starring Assunta de Rossi. “Our material is very original and I’d like to thank GMA for giving me this directorial break,” he says. “I also want to thank the creative team led by writer Maribel Ilag dahil nagkakagulo kami talaga para lang mapaganda ang bawat episode ng show na ito. This is hard to do kasi three hours going to our location in Anilao, Batangas and three hours din pauwi, with lots of underwater scenes pa.”
He’s glad to be of help in launching the career of Starstruck 3 winner Jackie Rice. Does she deliver? “Yes, 100 percent,” says Ricky. “Na-delay lang kami as she had to train how to swim and dive first, but now, she’s an expert underwater. She has plenty of difficult scenes both under and above water, but she never complains. She proved how professional she is when I asked her to do a violent confrontation scene with Dominic Roco. Sabi ko, mala-‘Relasyon’ ito, ha. Lampasan nyo sina Vilma Santos at Christopher de Leon. Tinotoo niya ang pagsipa sa isang silya pero nakulangan ako and I asked for a take two and a take three. She did them all, without me knowing she already broke one of her toes. After I was satisfied with the scene, dun pa lang siya nadala sa ospital at na-cast ang paa niya.”
