Additional entries in Cinemalaya Directors Showcase

HERE ARE the two other entries in Cinemalaya’s Directors Showcase: “Isda (Fable of the Fish)” – Bembol Roco and Cherry Pie Picache are Miguel and Lina, a couple from Pangasinan who move to a dumpsite in Malabon. Lina is longing to have a child. In the dumpsite, she finds a statue of St. Peregrine and keeps it. Soon, she gets pregnant and their neighbors are shocked when she gives birth to a fish. Miguel can’t accept it but Lina accepts the fish as her child. Strange and surreal moments then test Lina’s love for her fish offspring.

“Patikul” – Based on Kristoffer Brugada’s Palanca Award-winning script (first prize), this is set in the remote town of Patikul in Sulu where the lives of impoverished coffee farms are badly affected by the armed clashes between military forces and the Abu Sayyaf. When the rebels kidnap and behead the school principal and teachers get scared to report to their school, the farmers had to arm themselves to defend the teachers who offer hope in their lives by giving good education to their kids. This stars Marvin Agustin as the principal, Allen Dizon as the leader of the farmers, along with Glaiza de Castro, Ciara Sotto, Dimples Romana, Jaime Pebanco,
Angeli Nicole Sanoy,Martin de los Santos, Rubi Rubi and Richard Quan.
