Bianca King admits she's a sinner and saint in real life

BIANCA KING has reason to smile these days. Her “Sinner or Saint” is now the number one local soap in GMA-7’s afternoon block, often besting Kylie Padilla’s “Blusang Itim” and Jackie Rice’s “Sisid”. “When I was first told magbibida na ko, I was so nervous,” she says at the special solo presscon GMA hosted for her. “What if viewers wouldn’t like it? Lalo na’t super deglamorized ako as Noemi, a squatter girl na walang make-up, litaw lahat ng freckles ko sa mukha. Tapos, nang nasa jail na ko, lagi lang ako in a prisoner’s orange uniform. But I’m glad lahat ng hirap namin paid off as the show is rating really well. Eventually, lalaya din ako at yayaman with the help of a new character who’d be introduced later. Pero seven weeks muna ang itatakbo ng show bago mangyari yun. Matagal-tagal pa ko sa loob ng jail. We tape sa Correctional for Women’s maximum security prison sa Mandaluyong.”

So she meets real life prisoners? “Oh yes. Mababait naman sila. I talk to them, tinatanong ko how long they’ve been there, ilan ng anak nila, at nagkukuwento naman sila sa’kin.”

Is she a sinner or saint? “In the show, saint ako kasi inaapi ako, I got jailed nang di ko kasalanan, tapos pregnant pa ko and I’d give birth in prison. But in real life, I can be both. I try to be a saint pero kung minsan, nagiging sinner para di maagrabiyado. Pero di ako nananakit ng kapwa ko.”

She continues to go to college majoring in filmmaking in La Salle. “I want to thank GMA kasi they really wait for me na matapos ang classes ko before I go to taping. One semester na lang, tapos na ko. I just have to finish my thesis which is a film script and I have to film 5 minutes of it. I already talked to Iza Calzado to play the lead and I want sana Jericho Rosales, kung papayagan siya.”

Now co-managed by Bebong Munoz and GMA Artist Center, has she heard the story that GMA exec Annette Gozon Abrogar had a fight with Annabelle Rama because of her? “May nagsabi lang sa’kin. Kasi bakit daw ako nabigyan ng lead role. I don’t really know the details but I can’t blame the managers kung ipaglaban ang talents nila kasi siempre they want to give work to their talents. Kaya lang, prerogative pa rin ng network who they want to launch.”
