THE LOCAL FILM industry started in September 1919 when the zarzuela “Dalagang Bukid” was made into film by Jose Nepomuceno starring Atang de la Rama, so this year, it’s celebrating its 92nd anniversary with “Pinilakang Tabing”, a big stage show at the CCP Main Theatre on June 22. Mowelfund chief Boots Anson Roa says that 92 of the country’s biggest stars, producers and filmmakers will appear on stage. The show, a joint project of the Film Development Council and the CCP with TV5 as media partner, is written by Floy Quintos and will trace the history of local films, directed by Chris Millado. The proceeds of the show will go to the Mowelfund.
