Rocco Nacino plays a gay role in an indie movie

ROCCO NACINO is one of the guest celebrity judges in “Amazing Cooking Kids” and he’s excited to taste the dishes to be cooked by the remaining child contestants. We interviewed him while he was waiting for the director to call him and he said he’s now preparing for his new soap, “Jump”, the danceserye with Mark Herras, Kris Bernal, LJ Reyes and his other batchmates in Starstruck V that will start taping this Thursday. “The show requires lots of dancing so we’re taking dance workshops to prepare for it,” he says.

Because the rehearsals for their production numbers in “Jump” and also “Party Pilipinas” will involve several days each week, he’s giving up his participation in “Bubble Gang” where he has shown his flair for comedy. “Sayang nga, enjoy ako doing the gags assigned to me in the show,” he says. “I’m learning pa naman so much from my co-actors there, lalo na sina Kuya Ogie Alcasid and Michael V, but priority namin ang ‘Jump’ sa ngayon to make sure it’ll be a good show.”

Rocco also plays a controversial role in the Cinemalaya indie film “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” directed by Alvin Yapan that premieres at the Cultural Center next month. He figures in a love triangle with Jean Garcia and Paulo Avelino. But there’s a twist in their story. It’s not with Jean that he gets enamoured with, it’s with Paulo. About his lovelife, Rocco maintains that he’s just good friends with Sheena Halili, who’s his constant date. They met while doing the sitcom “Kaya ng Powers” and have been inseparable ever since.

“We’re special friends, pero hindi pa talaga kami,” he insists. “Both of us, career ang priority.”
