Waiting for Nora is like 'Waiting for Godot'

MANY OF HER fans continue to wait for Nora Aunor’s return. Several movie writers have written about her coming home, some of them even writing specific dates of her sure arrival, but she never came. Last Tuesday, someone said she’d appear in the Star Awards to be a special presenter for the lifetime achievement award that her ex-husband, Christopher de Leon, will receive but again, she’s a no show.

It all reminds us of the existentialist Samuel Becket play from the Theatre of the Absurd, “Waiting for Godot”, where the characters keep on waiting for the return of Godot, but he never shows up. Even her children Lotlot and Matet de Leon say they are waiting for her. Matet said at the presscon of “Forever and a Day” directed by Cathy Molina (she’s a favorite of Cathy so she’s always in Cathy’s films playing supporting roles) that nothing is sure about her mom’s return. She said she has asked Nora’s number one fan and supporter, Albert Sunga, to convince her mom to return soon as she wants Ate Guy to see her own kids, especially her first born who’s now 6 years old and has never seen his lola.

Even Lotlot’s kids are eager to see her. The eldest, Janine, was still in grade school when she left and Janine has now graduated from college and will soon be launched as one of GMA-7’s new young stars. Nora’s two adopted sons, Kenneth and Kiko, are under Lotlot’s care. Her only real biological son, Ian, who has separated from his wife, now lives in the compound of his dad, Christopher de Leon.
