CRISTINA GONZALES says she’s not really sure yet if she’d run as Leyte governor in 2013 but, this early, her husband Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez’ political foes are already starting to malign her. “Mas grabe ang intrigahan sa politics,” Kring Kring says. “Sa showbiz, joke-joke lang. Sa politics, talagang personalan, pero ayoko magpaapekto sa mga intriga. Up to now, sinasabi nila, sexy actress ka lang naman. I’ve never hidden the fact that I did sexy films, dahil doon kaya ako nakilala ng tao. I’m glad my husband defends me sa mga bumabatikos sa’kin. I’m really thankful I experienced doing movies during the heydays of local films. There was a time na every week, may movie akong pinalalabas. Hindi na yun mararanasan ng mga bagong artista ngayong once a month na lang daw ang showing ng local films.”
Doesn’t she miss showbiz, considering she has remained slim and alluring like before? “I do. Puede ko sa guestings na one shot deal lang, but not a TV soap na madalas ang taping. I have two daughters na inaasikaso and also, being a councillor, the people of Tacloban ang priority ko. I have my own programs here, like Cristina’s Livelihood and Enterpreneurship Program where we teach livelihood projects to the people from cosmetology to cooking, baking, tailoring and putting up their own business. I have my own business, Cristina’s Salon and Spa where some of the graduates now work. It has a branch at Robinson’s Place and in downtown Tacloban. I love it here kasi I can feel may saysay ang buhay ko, unlike sa showbiz na puro glamor lang. Even my kids love it here.”
