IT’S DINGDONG DANTES’ birthday on August 2 and he names his own film company Agostodos Productions, based on his birth date. He’s currently into three co-productions. First is with Kris Aquino for their Metro filmfest horror entry, “Segunda Mano”, directed by Joyce Bernal. TV and video right for this will go to Star Cinema who’s got the bigger share of investment in the project. In return for this, Kris will also do a movie for GMA Films. Then there’s Dingdong’s co-production with Dondon Monteverde’s Reality Entertainment, “Aswang” with
Lovi Poe, directed by Erik Matti with plenty of CGI effects. Last is the long delayed “Dance with the Steel Bars” filmed with Cebu inmates and British actor Patrick Bergin, directed by Cesar Apolinario of GMA-7. It’s obvious he’s serious in producing movies. It’ll be recalled that he has also tried movie directing when he megged an episode of “Angels” starring Marvin Agustin and
Valerie Concepcion that even got nominated in some award-giving bodies. “Pero siempre, first priority ko pa rin ang pag-aartista,” he says. “Mas malaki pa rin ang bayad dito, but I get a different kind of fulfilment in producing and directing. Hindi ko rin iiwan ang hosting, as I’m hosting the new reality show for GMA, ‘The Protege’. Sa last quarter of the year, I’ll also do a new primetime soap.”
