“We promised na hindi kami talaga mai-in love sa isa’t isa,” adds Erich. But what if they they do fall in love while taping “Maria La del Barrio”? “Why not? Very lovable naman si Enchong.”
“Di kami nagsasalita ng tapos kasi you don’t know what will happen tomorrow,” Enchong says.
How different is their version from that of Thalia’s? “We’ve seen the original at medyo naiba na yung kuwento kasi mas pinaganda, pero nandun pa rin yung koronang laging suot ni Maria dahil bigay yun ng nanay niya and she believes suwerte yun sa kanya,” says Erich.
“This is a Filipinized version,” says Direk Rory. “Yung supporting characters sa original, binigyan namin dito ng sarili nilang stories and we had to ask the permission of the Mexican mother company to do that kaya natagalan ang taping. We started this in March pa. But in the process, mas nabusisi namin kaya mas maganda talaga ang Filipinized version na ito.”
