EUGENE DOMINGO is honored to play the title role in “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank”. “Siguro first and last time ko to be playing myself,” she says. “The film is a satire is about three young filmmakers, Kean Cipriano, JM de Guzman and Cai Cortez, who want to do a movie romanticizing poverty that will be shown in festivals abroad and join the Oscars. They offer the lead role to me dahil ako si Eugene Domingo. In the process, this becomes five movies within a movie dahil they will try it as a drama, a comedy, a musical, a documentary, and a film in real time.”
So will she be wallowing inside a “pozo negro”? “May line ako doon na okay lang sa akin ang sex scenes with actual penetration, pero wag nyo naman akong palusungin sa tae.” But we remember shooting was stopped when she fell on a septic tank. “Yes, nahulog ako, aksidente, at dahil doon, na-delay ang shooting dahil hinintay muna nilang gumaling ako. Yes, lumusong ako sa septic tank, pero production design na lang yung mga poopoo. Very realistic ang hitsura. Aakalain mong yun talagang lumalabas sa’tin kapag umuupo tayo sa trono. Nang finally matapos ang shoot, pumalakpak lahat led by writer Chris Martinez and director Marlon Rivera.”
Viewers might find that scene revolting. “Hindi. Walang toilet humor dito. High comedy ito.”
She’s hoping the film will be sending her to more international filmfests. “Kagagaling ko lang sa Udine International filmfest sa Italy where ‘Here Comes the Bride’ was shown. Wagi ako sa Europe. Maraming nagandahan sa’kin doon.”
