Jomari Chan wants to help local music and artists

FOR THE FIRST time in his career as a concert performer, Jose Mari Chan will do something different in “It’s Complicated, A Valentine Concert in July”, this Saturday at the SMX Convention Center at Mall of Asia: he will dance. “Yes, I have some production number with the Company of Moy Ortiz and will do some dancing on stage,” he says. “Also, I will be singing songs I wrote but popularized by other singers like ‘Mamang Sorbetero’ ni Celeste Legaspi, ‘Hahanapin Ka’ ni Anthony Castelo, ‘Nobya Kong Sexy’ by the APO and ‘Tsuper ng Aking Buhay’ by Janet Basco.”

Jomari released his first hit single in 1966, “Afterglow”. Since then, he became an icon in the local music scene with countless hits and commercial jingles to his credit. “It’s Complicated” is aimed to support Original Pilipino Music that’s now being clobbered by foreign acts. “His presence in today’s concert scene will surely help bring back the passion of Pinoy audiences for OPM,” says concert producer Pelita Uy.
