MARK ANTHONY FERNANDEZ looks slim and handsome these days. “I lost weight,” he says. “I go to the gym regularly, run sa treadmill, lift weights, do boxing.” How about his diet? “I eat everything, what’s important is I burn in the gym whatever I eat.”
It’s the death anniversary of his late dad last month and his stepmom, Lorna Tolentino, says he continues to miss his dad so much. “That’s true. I really miss him. For me, lagi pa rin siyang nandiyan. Pag may gagawin nga akong kasalanan, I feel guilty right away pag naaalala ko siya. He continues to guide me.” How does he feel his two brothers, Ralph and Renz are now also in showbiz? “I’m so proud of them. Tapos na sila pareho ng college when they joined showbiz, lalo na si Ralph, he finished two courses, both about films.”
His tandem with Camille Prats is well received by viewers. “Yes, and we’re thankful. When I first worked with Camille, child star pa siya. I guested in ‘Oki Doki Dok’ for some episodes. She has become a very good actress. Maganda working relationship naming lahat sa show. I love working with Tita Gloria Romero. Ang sarap katrabaho.”
How come it’s always reported that he and his wife Melissa have broken up? “Wala kasing ibang magawang issue sa akin. But we’re doing fine. Our son, Cameron, is now 9 years old and in grade 4. Balak naming sundan siya next year.”
What happened to the movie he’d do with Claudine Barretto? “Hindi magtagpo yung schedules namin. We both got busy with soaps. E, ako, ayokong pagsabayin yung may soap and movie. Grabeng trabaho yon. Di na ko bata. I need to rest in between. Pero sana, matuloy pa rin. I miss doing movies.”
What can he say about other actors going to rehab like him before, like Baron Geisler and Jiro Manio? “Rehab is good. It’s a healthy thing, lalo na kung gusto mo magbago. But you should combine with the elements of faith and prayer. At maghanap sila ng ibang outlet para sa energy nila and know what’s really cool and what’s not cool.”
