Richard Gutierrez training as a Triathlon athlete to host new season of Survivor

RICHARD GUTIERREZ is in tiptop shape these days as he wants to join the strenuous sport, triathlon, that requires running, biking and swimming. “I’m really training rigorously for this,” he says. “I want to push myself to be more physically fit when ‘Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown 2’ starts taping in October.”

Meantime, he’s about to tape the final episode of “Captain Barbell” that will end next week. “The episodes on finale week will be truly action packed so viewers shouldn’t miss dahil exciting talaga ang maraming tagpo. Patuloy ang sagupaan namin ni fake Captain Barbell (Akihiro Sato) at ni Nero (Christopher de Leon). Dahil sa lumubog na yate, malulunod si Isabel Oli as Melanie. I will be able to save her but she might not recover fully kasi nawalan ng oxygen ang brain niya.”

He’ll tape the show’s last scenes on Saturday, then he’ll co-host “Party Pilipinas” on Sunday afternoon and that very same night, he’ll fly to California for a two-week rest period. Upon his return to Manila, GMA Films is hoping he’ll be able to finish shooting a new movie with them before he goes to a secluded island for the taping of the new season of “Survivor”. GMA News and Public Affairs also wants him to host a new environmental documentary for them after his “Planet Philippines” just won the highest silver award at the 32nd Telly Awards in New York.
