Rio Locsin says Nadine Samonte deserves a big break in The Sisters

RIO LOCSIN was 18 years old when Regal launched her to stardom in “Disgrasyada” in 1979. Now, she remains very active. She just delivered a good performance as the wife of Joel Torre who’s tortured by the Americans in “Amigo”. After doing soaps with ABS-CBN and GMA-7, she’s now with TV5 in “The Sisters” as the aunt of Nadine Samonte who makes life difficult for their family. “Contravida ang role ko and my main foil here is Eddie Garcia who’s the governor in our province,” she says.

Does she think Nadine is really a good actress who deserves the big buildup TV5 is giving her? “Oh yes, she deserves it, and I don’t think sasayangin niya ang opportunity na binigay sa kanya kaya she’s really doing her best para paghusayin ang acting niya in her dual roles.”

Another co-star of Nadine is Alicia Alonzo, who plays her yaya. Alicia was launched by Lea Productions in 1967 in “Nag-aapoy na Dambana” supported by Gloria Romero and Lolita Rodriguez no less. Now, 44 years later, she’s happy she’s still active and supports new stars like Nadine. “Magaling si Nadine and with the guidance of Direk Joyce Bernal, kayang kaya niyang gampanan ng maayos ang dalawang papel niya.”
