Watch out for the CCP epic 'Hinilawod'

A LOCAL EPIC epic on Filipino indigenous peoples inhabiting Panay Island before the coming of the Spaniards, “Hinilawod” is one of the longest known epics, even longer than the Iliad or Odyssey of Greece. It is a monumental saga of heroes, villains, gods and monsters. You can now see this Philippine cultural treasure on stage as performed by a group of artists and culture visionaries, Hiyas Kayumanggi, from Dumaguete City where its series of musical and theatrical performances have been well-received and there has been a public clamor for reruns. This jewel of Filipino pre-Spanish culture will now be presented at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP Main Theatre) on September 3 and 4, 2011.
