IN HER LETTER to us, Carla Abellana says it’s not true she was challenged by her “My Neighbor’s Wife” co-star Lovi Poe and such a thing never even crossed her mind, but during the presscon, she admitted in effect that she felt insecure by Lovi’s presence. She even said compared to Lovi, “mukha akong balyena.” Well, at least, that came from her own mouth as it’s true. Lovi is slim and sexy, but we do admire Carla for her temerity in showing her shapeless body in her dowdy two-piece swimsuit in “My Neighbor’s Wife”. Even in the acting department, she has something to get worried about. Lovi stole the limelight from her co-stars in “Temptation Island” and has won two best actress awards for “Mayohan” and “Sagrada Familia”. What about her, what has she got to show? Despite this, we’re told she questioned Lovi’s being billed with an “and” in “My Neighbor’s Wife” and also demanded she be billed the same way. But why? Even seniority wise, Lovi is more senior than her as Lovi started acting on TV in 2006 while still a teenager in “Love to Love” and “Bakekang”.
She started doing movies in the “Christmas Tree” episode of “Shake, Rattle & Roll 9” in 2007 where she played the lead role. Other films she did are “Sigwa” and “Deadline” (both with Joel Lamangan), “White House”, and “My Valentine Girls”. In 2008, she also played lead in the TV soap “Kaputol ng Isang Awit” and had many more other TV projects, the last one as leading lady of Richard Gutierrez in “Captain Barbell”.
“My Neighbor’s Wife” is Lovi’s 8th movie and it’s Carla’s 3rd only after “Mamarazzi” and “Shake 12”. So, who do you think is truly more deserving to be billed ahead?
