Derrick Monasterio will wait for Bea Binene

DERRICK MONASTERIO doesn’t hide the fact that his real crush among the female Tween Stars is Bea Binene. But he was told to distance himself from Bea as this might ruin her love team with Jake Vargas who’s paired with her in “Tween Academy: Class of 2012” and in the new soap “Pahiram ng Isang Ina”. Did he take this badly? “No,” he says at the presscon of “Tween Academy”. “Tama namang mag-focus muna kami sa mga kapareha namin para mas mag-bloom at ma-establish ang aming respective careers. Also, mga bata pa kami so, if years from now, magiging kami rin, then there’s no need to rush.”

Does this mean he loves his career more than Bea? “Crush lang naman yung kay Bea, nothing serious. At hindi lang naman siyang crush ko, si Rhian Ramos din.”

Would he woo Lexi Fernandez, his partner in “Tween Academy” to help push their love team? “Friends lang kami ni Lexi. Wala naman akong permanenteng ka-love team. I’ve been paired with Kylie Padilla and Louise de los Reyes before, and I prefer it that way kaysa identified ako sa isa lang.”

Because of his height and mestizo good looks, it’s predicted that he’s one of the Tween actors whose career would last. It’s also said he has lots of gay fans. What can he say about this? “It’s flattering. Sana nga, totoong tumagal ako sa showbiz. About gays, I’ve nothing against them. Sa school po namin (Claret), andaming bading, sumusunod sa’kin. Okay lang.”
