SOME FOLKS are asking why we continue to write about Carla Abellana when she already said sorry. The day after the presscon, Mother Lily called us to arrange a meeting with her and we said there’s no need and as far as we’re concerned, it’s over, tapos na, since we already got to say what we wanted to say no. We never even wrote about it in our columns.
But soon after that, at the presscon of “Thelma”, we heard that Carla’s camp was saying she didn’t know anything about the email and someone just used her name. Then some writers said “poor Carla, hindi pala niya alam.” That’s when we wrote that we got her email straight from her own Facebook account with her full name and big picture on it. In Raymond Gutierrez’ interview with her in “Showbiz Central”, she said she’s now scared to talk because of what happened to us. “Takot na kong magsalita,” she said.
But that’s not what she did. She didn’t just “talk”. If she did, kung nagsalita lang siya to us directly, things would not have gone this far. But what she did is she sent us a strongly worded letter insulting our being a writer and threatening to do something in the presscon of “My Neighbor’s Wife” if we wouldn’t issue an erratum, which was what we actually did for her in the film’s presscon. We’re one of the most approachable writers in showbiz, if she just talked to us about it, everything would have been settled easily. Carla says she already said sorry. Yes, she did, in the presscon on cam and on TV in “Showbiz Central”. But what was the medium she used where she slighted us? The internet, where she wrote us a scathing email. If she had used the same medium where she made the mistake of hurting our feelings, this would have been over by now. But as some folks say, she doesn’t look sincere in saying sorry. So, this goes on.
