It'll be unfair to Nora Aunor and any other actress to be compared with Vilam Santos

GOV. VILMA SANTOS is being accused by some folks of feeling insecure with all the publicity the comebacking Nora Aunor is getting so she reportedly called for her own presscon in Batangas. Her confidante, Jun Nardo, says she never called for a presscon. She says some writers regularly visit her in Batangas (mostly members of the Philippine Movie Press Club, Jun says) and when other reporters learned they were going, they all decided to join. “Nagulat nga si Gov. Vi sa dami ng dumating, pati TV crews,” he says. “Kaya nilinaw niyang hindi siya nagpapatawag at all ng presscon at kusang dumating yung mga taga-press doon. She didn’t even have time na asikasuhin sila agad kasi busy siya with work so they had to wait for her.”

Gov. Vi is all set to shoot a new movie in September for Star Cinema, a horror-thriller with Kim Chiu to be directed by Chito Rono who has megged her before in “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa” and “Dekada 70”, for which she both won best actress awards. We know Chito has a good track record when it comes to making hit horror flicks like “Feng Shui” and “Sukob”, and with Star Cinema using their machinery full blast in plugging it on ABS-CBN, Ate Vi is assured of another blockbuster hit like the other films she did with Star Cinema, which includes “Anak” and “In My Life”.

At this point, we honestly believe there’s no longer any need to match Nora with Gov. Vi as it’ll be unfair to both of them. Gov. Vi never left the country for 8 years, has maintained a clean record without rumors of having been involved in drugs or going to the casino or owing money to anybody, has a good marriage with Sen. Ralph Recto, has a grown up son who has a college degree and a successful showbiz career and a younger one who’s also doing well in high school, and more importantly, she was able to carve a new name and career for herself away from showbiz as a dedicated public servant, first as mayor of Lipa and now, governor of Batangas. Any other movie star who’ll be compared to her, not just Ate Guy, will certainly pale and suffer in comparison.
