Mother Lily impressed with indie film ‘Ligo Na U Lapit Na Me’ and releasing it under Regal

MOTHER LILY enjoyed the entries in Cinemalaya. “Watching the works of young filmmakers energized me,” she says. “I felt young and active. One film I really enjoyed is ‘Ligo Na U Lapit Na Me’ produced by Noel Ferrer, directed by Erick Salud and starring a young actor I feel has great charisma and excellent acting skills, Edgar Allan Guzman, who deserves winning best actor in the awards night.”

Mother Lily immediately told Noel she wants Regal to release ‘Ligo Na U’ theatrically. “The feedback after each screening was overwhelmingly positive that we also got offers from Viva and OctoArts,” says Noel. “But since si Mother ang nauna, we decided to give it to her. She wanted to release it right away on August 17 but after the MTRCB gave us a rating of R-13 uncut, which means we can be shown in SM Cinemas, they now want to promote it more and the release date now is reset to September 7.”

But that’s also the playdate of “Rakenrol”. “Di bale, magkaiba naman sila ng genre,” says Mother’s daughter, Roselle Teo. “Adult romantic-comedy kami and rock and roll naman sila.”
