CRISTINE REYES plays the wife of Derek Ramsay who Anne Curtis tries to snatch away from her in Director Ruel Bayani’s “No Other Woman”. Would she run after a two-timing man in real life? “No,” she says. “If I learn may iba na siya, di ako hahabol. I’ll make him choose. If he’d choose the other one, okay lang. It means he’s not for me. Hindi ko ipipilit ang sarili ko dahil ang dami namang lalaki diyan at ang ganda-ganda ko, no?”
How is it working with Derek and Anne? “I’m flattered to work with them kasi marami kong natutuhan sa kanila, especially from Derek na laging nagpapatawa kaya masaya kami sa shooting. Before each take, we discuss things with Direk Ruel at tulungan kami para mapaganda ang eksena.”
In the story, Derek has been married to her for three years and they’re happy together as she’s a perfect wife. Anne is the young head of the Zalderiaga Group of Companies putting up a new resort. Derek offers his services as a furniture supplier to her. Anne is instantly attracted to him and seduces him but he resists her saying he’s married. To the liberated Anne, this isn’t a problem as they can just go to bed with no strings attached. “Don’t fall in love with me,” she even tells him. But she’s the one who falls for him and won’t let go of him anymore. Derek tries to divide his time between his wife and his mistress, but Cristine discovers their affair and tries to save her marriage.
How hot are the love scenes between Derek and the two women? “Very passionate, very intense, and I’m thankful they’re all cooperative,” says Direk Ruel. “The film came at a time when all of them want to tackle a more mature, serious film and they give their all to their respective roles.”
In the trailer, though, it’s Carmi Martin who shines mouthing quotable quotes that reflects the film’s very gay or “baklang-bakla” sensibility. Direk Ruel says the funniest line comes from him, with Carmi urging daughter Cristine to fight back: “Panahon na para i-pack up mo ang pagka-Lucy Torres mo. Ilabas mo na ang pagka-Gretchen Barretto mo. Ako nang bahala sa red stilettos mo!” It clicks with showboz denizes, but we just don’t know if the ordinary viewer would fully understand what that means.
