Derrick Monasterio a jolly person

ONE ASSET of 16-year old Derrick Monasterio is his having such a lively personality. “Parang kangkarot,” said writer Jun Nardo when we interviewed Derrick on the set of “Sinner or Saint” where he figures in a love triangle with newcomers Kim Komatsu and Therese Conde.

How does he feel about his limited exposure as the school bully in “Tween Academy: Class of 2012”? “Malungkot, kasi hindi ako ang lead,” he says, then quickly adds: “Joke lang. Pero totoo, mas marami pang exposure yung aso ni Barbie Forteza kaysa sa’kin,” and he laughs.

He was made to appear a kontrabida? “Okay lang yun, sana lang, mas maraming lines, pero okay na ko run kasi first movie ko pa lang naman. I’m now shooting my second movie, ‘The Road’, at mas malaking role ko rito. Kasama ko sina Barbie Forteza at Bea Binene. Hahabulin kami ng isang killer.”

He first announced that Bea Binene was his crush, then Sam Pinto, now, the latest is said to be Rhian Ramos. He seems to be very fickleminded. “Crush lang naman, hindi pa naman serious. Saka si Alden Richards daw ang type nila, so magpapayaman na lang muna ako.”
