MAJA SALVADOR is glad the rift between her and much older cousin Deborah Sun is over. Deborah is the daughter of the late Leroy Salvador and Maja’s dad, Ross Rival, is Leroy’s brother. “We had lunch and I’m glad nagkita na kami’t nagkausap,” she says. “We were officially introduced to each other at nag-sorry akong hindi ko siya agad nakilala. Nakapagkuwentuhan na kami at masayahin siya. Ang ganda-ganda nga ng eyes niya. Ibang klase.”
Despite the many intrigues against her, she’s satisfied with the way ABS-CBN is handling her career. “Oo naman, masaya kong napasama ko sa ‘Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin’, which ended sa wedding namin ni Coco Martin. Tapos, heto, palalabas na ang movie ko where I play the title role, ‘Thelma’, released by Star Cinema on September 7 at ipapalabas pa sa filmfests abroad so I’m really proud of it. Sana payagan ako ng ABS to join the delegation that will represent it sa Hawaii International filmfest.”
Maja says she’s one of the film’s producers. “Yung talent fee ko sa pagiging actress ang siyang isinosyo ko roon. Next time naman, I plan to produce my own concert. Plano kong mag-voice lessons to improve my singing kasi pangarap ko talagang makapag-concert.”
What can she say about Director Paul Soriano’s statement she deserves to win a best actress award for her portrayal of “Thelma”? “Sana nga magkatotoo. I gave my best in this movie. It’s physically and emotionally draining. I’m very proud of the whole film kasi pati technical nito, super ganda, lalo ang cinematography at ang music and theme song by Mark Escueta.”
