Nora Aunor ill advised to attack ABS-CBN and pose holding a cigarette

NORA AUNOR is ill advised to have censured ABS-CBN in an interview with her. She’s starting anew and she should have dwelt on more positive things. When we asked Charo Santos about Ate Guy at the 20th anniversary presscon of “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, she wisely demurred, saying she doesn’t want anything negative since she’s celebrating her show’s longevity on the air.

Ate Guy did two shows with ABS, Star Drama Theatre and the soap “Bituin”. She said: “Hindi ko lang kaya yung palakad nila. Ayoko na sa kanila.” She also said Charo started with her company and she gave Charo the break as Christopher de Leon’s leading lady, Maribubut, in “Tisoy”. This is not true since Charo got her break in Mike De Leon’s “Itim” for which she got the Asian Filmfest best actress award.

One writer feels “dapat nanahimik na lang si Ate Guy. Ayan, dahil sa mga sinabi, sumagot tuloy ang ABS at na-reveal tuloy na naging unprofessional siya.”

Entertainment head Linggit Tan said they had to cut short Ate Guy’s “Star Drama Theater” in the 90s “because of her unprofessional working habits.” They got her again in “Bituin” in 2002 but again, she showed the same behavior. Our source told us what exactly those unprofessional working habits were, but we won’t go into details here anymore. We’ll just pray that Ate Guy will no longer show them ever again now that she’s given a chance by TV5 to revive her career once more. She should never ever waste the new opportunities being given to her by backsliding into her old habits.

She’s also ill advised to pose for a magazine cover with a cigarette which made the Philippine Medical Association criticize her for promoting a highly addictive habit. It said: “We are really disappointed because of the message that it conveys to the public. She is a popular actress and seeing her smoking is not good especially for the youth.”. Running priest Fr. Robert Reyes added: “Ms. Aunor has gone through a lot -- failed relationships and others. I hope she can overcome smoking, which is also a form of addiction. She has her moral and social responsibility to other people, being a public figure.”
