ALJUR ABRENICA has started taping for “Amaya” last week and he’ll start appearing in the show this coming Tuesday.
What’s the role he plays? “I will play Dayaw, a Manikiad,” he says. “A Manikiad is a many who has killed one or two persons and is next in line in being a warrior chief. I have to put on tattoos on my arm and body for the role. Matagal pala burahin yung fake tattoo na nilalagay nila sa balat mo. As Dayaw, I’m also assigned to bring our goods like fruits and vegetables from the mountain down to the lowlands. I mingle with people considered as outsiders from the plains or from overseas so I’m exposed to other cultures and beliefs. May pagka-progressive ang views ko compared to other tribesmen as I believe we should study the culture of foreign people for us to learn.”
How is it working with Marian Rivera? “It’s a great experience. Magkasama rin kami sa ‘Panday, Ikalawang Aklat’, pareho kaming galing sa race of dragon people, and I really enjoy working with her in films and now, also on TV. Sana nga, magtagal ang character na ginagampanan ko sa ‘Amaya’.”
