Jake Cuenca on playing his first gay role

JAKE CUENCA has not played a gay role before so he welcomed playing the role of the gay letter sender from Barcelona, Spain in the 20th anniversary presentation of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” tonight. “I was really excited by the episode kasi it gave me the chance to work with Ricky Davao, who I respect so much, as my dad who’s against me kasi di matanggap na bading anak niya,” he says. “Also, the fact na sa Spain pa kinunan, it’s an added bonus kasi my family lives there. Four days kami nag-tape doon kaya nagkasama kami ng parents ko. But at first, I didn’t know gay role pala ang gagawin ko. Sabi ko pa, sinong leading lady ko diyan? Okay naman, I learned so much taping a show nang madalian in a foreign land.”

So who was his peg? “Si BB Gandanghari. And also the letter sender himself, Louie, who was with us while we were taping his story in Barcelona kaya nagagaya ko siya.”

How come the stories linking him with Lovi Poe won’t die down even if their film has already been shown? “Oo nga. Lovi and I became good friends but we haven’t seen each other for sometime kasi pareho kaming busy with our own projects.”
