JANNO GIBBS says he’s no longer Tardiness personified. “Hindi na ko nale-late after mag-rest ako at muling bumalik,” he says. “I’m also more ganado now with my work.”
His perennial tardiness was caused by insomnia, but he has since learned to cope with it. His wife Bing Loyzaga and their two daughters Alyssa and Gabby are both happy that he’s now more focused with his work. So he and Bing are now together again and it’s not true they live in separate homes? “We’re okay, wala ng problema. We’re a happy family. Hindi totoong magkahiwalay kami ng tirahan. Walang ganun. 22 years na kami and we intend to have a renewal of vows come our 25th wedding anniversary. Nagkaroon nga kami ng problems before, but we both didn’t want to give up our marriage.”
Was he affected when Bing was linked to Jay Manalo when they were doing “Babaeng Hampaslupa”? “No, for the simple reason na alam kong di naman totoo yun.”
To show everything is okay with him now, he has a concert, “Janno Gives”, at the Music Museum on Saturday, October 15, one of the first things he really wanted to after he signed up to be with Perry Lansigan’s PPL Entertainment. This is for the benefit of Dingdong Dantes’ Yes Pinoy Foundation’s flagship program, Para sa Paaralan that offers alternative learning systems and disaster preparedness. Aside from Dingdong and GF Marian Rivera, special guests in his show are Dennis Trillo, Jaya, Jennylyn Mercado and Jolina Magdangal. This is the first show of Dennis and Jen since their breakup.
“They know guests ko sila but they won’t perform together. I’d first sing with Dong and Dennis then later, with the three J’s: Jaya, Jen and Jolina. I think okay na naman sila, kaya lang naiilang pang magsama on stage. They know all eyes will be on them.”
He’ll be singing his hits like “Ipagpatawad Mo” and “Fallen” plus do impersonations of other singers. “I’ll also do the music video of ‘We Are the World’, with me singing all the voices in the background.”
Janno is also busy mentoring in “Protege”. His two other wards have been eliminated and he now focuses on his best talent, Lira Bermudez. “She’s only 13 but has a big powerful voice for her age.” How about acting? “Yes, I want to do a soap again. I miss acting.” Tickets to his concert range from P800 to P2,500. Get them at Music Museum (tel. 721-6726) or PPL office (411-6773, 0917-952-7035).
