How is it working with Lovi? “Masarap siyang katrabaho. She’s such a natural actress. No effort at all when she’s emoting for the camera. Enjoy ako being bitten by her on the neck. In the story, I play a hired killer tasked to kill Jillian Ward and Albie Casino who are witnesses to a crime. Nagtago sila in this town at sinundan namin sila ng mga kasama ko, without knowing it’s populated by aswangs. Lovi is one of them. I meet her in church and I fall in love with her.”
The new “Aswang” has a totally different story from the Alma Moreno version helmed by Peque Gallaga. Even the special effects used are very modern, like a scene where Lovi runs then turns into a bird and flies. “Our director, Jerrold Tarog, has new exciting ideas on how to scare viewers,” adds Paulo. “Marami talagang nakakatakot na eksena sa movie, lalo yung mga aswang na gumagapang sa ilalim ng lupa at bigla na lang hihilahin ang mga binibiktima nila.”
What’s in store for him after he moved from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN? “I just finished taping a ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ story set in the 1950s with me playing KC Concepcion’s husband. I’m also guesting in ‘100 Days to Heaven and they there’s say a new soap daw.”
