PAULO AVELINO felt sad when he got sick and wasn’t able to join the cast of “Temptation Island” early this year. But it turned out a bigger project was in store for him, “Aswang”, where he plays Lovi Poe’s leading man no less. “I must admit maganda talaga ang naging kapalit,” he says. “Kasi sa ‘Temptation’ marami kaming guys. Dito, ako lang.”
The horror movie obviously sells him as a sex symbol as he’s shown shirtless baring his muscled torso in a number of scenes. “Okay lang naman sa’king magpakita ng katawan kasi pinaghihirapan ko naman na i-maintain ito.”
And how is it working with Lovi? “I really admire kasi her acting style is so effortless. Napakanatural niya. At bukod sa magaling, napakabait and cooperative niyang artista kaya masarap katrabaho.”
They have a “kagatin mo ako promo” for “Aswang”. Where would he want to bite Lovi? “I think masarap siyang kagatin sa tenga. Nakakakiliti yun, e. As for me, I’d rather kagatin niya ako sa neck.” Aside from Lovi, who else would he like to bite? “Si Jessica Alba and Megan Fox. Sobrang sexy nila pareho.”
What if a gay would win in the contest? Would he mind being bitten by a gay? “I don’t see any problem sa pagkagat sa’kin ng isang bading. Basta huwag long doon mismo sa ano ko,” and he laughs. “Every week, we choose three winners and so far, naka-9 na kami. By the premiere night on Sunday at Megamall, we’ll have 12 winners all in all na kakagat sa akin.”
Paolo’s career is really booming. Also currently being shown in regular theaters is his acclaimed Cinemalaya entry, “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa”, with Rocco Nacino and Jean Garcia. On TV, he is in the cast of two new ABS-CBN shows, the Christmaserye “Ikaw ang Pag-big” and the new adaptation of “Wuthering Heights”, “Walang Hanggan”, with Coco Martin, Julia Montes, Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Susan Roces, Helen Gamboa, Rita Avila, Melissa Ricks and Joem Bascon.
