RAYMOND BAGATSING’S ex-wife, U.S.-based movie writer Cora Pastrana, was interviewed live by Pia Guanio in “Showbiz Central” last Sunday. Cora said she wants to clarify the “offensive and speculative things” written about her in the internet after she married Raymond. They met in 2005 and had a series of dates that culminated in their wedding in L.A. in 2008. People couldn’t accept the nearly 30-year difference in their ages and the cruel criticism hurled at them made the relationship suffer. They broke up after a year and a half. But Cora says it’s not true Raymond married her just to get a green card. She said Raymond got his U.S. visa as an artist with exceptional talent and abilities, the same reason why other stars like Gina Alajar, Michael de Mesa and Lorna Tolentino were given similar privileges.
“We really bonded,” she said. “It was something beautiful. But people ridiculed us.”
Raymond returned to Manila last year and did shows with ABS-CBN and later, with GMA-7. She said she was shocked when Raymond was interviewed in “Showbiz Central” and introduced his new girlfriend, a Hispanic singer-songwriter. “It’s a shocker because I didn’t know about that girlfriend,” she said. “I’ve never met her.”
She said Raymond should’ve given more respect. “I was hoping we’d part the way it started, beautifully,” she added. “But we haven’t even talked since I arrived here. Hopefully, we could talk before I leave back for the States.”
Cora said the video of their wedding then was just leaked to GMA without her knowledge. But someone connected with GMA disproves this and said she herself sent the wedding video and even said she hopes only beautiful shots of her will be shown on TV.
