Carla Abellana Is The New Tanduay Calendar Girl For 2012

CARLA ABELLANA is Tanduay’s 2012 Calendar Girl, replacing Iya Villania. “Hindi ko pinangarap ito and I never imagined I’d be part of the Tanduay family,” she says. “It came as a surprise na ako kanilang napili, so thank you very much. Before I accepted it, pinag-isipan muna naming mabuti ng manager ko, Arnold Vegafria. I even asked Yia. She said you can’t go wrong kasi magaling sila mag-alaga. Her poses are quite tame compared to those of other calendar girls as she’s fully clothed. “I was ready to do whatever they’d ask of me but sa Tanduay lahat nanggaling ang layouts na ito. And I’m thankful na ganito ka-tasteful lumabas. In fairness to Tanduay, lahat was subject to our approval.”

Why is Carla’s calendar not as daring as those of other models before? “We believe there’s no need to show skin to be sexy,” says Tanduay exec Andres Co. “We chose her kasi maganda siya, she brings distinct elegance to our products, and she’s a good actress who has won awards. She’ll provide something new and fresh to the millions who await our yearly calendars even abroad.”
Carla remains very active in both the small and big screen. Her “Kung Aagawin Mo ang Langit” is a toprater on GMA-7 and she now has two entries in the coming Metro filmfest. She is Gabby Concepcion’s new girlfriend in “Yesterday Today Tomorrow” and is also in “Asiong Salonga Story”. Is it true Mother Lily is mad at her for doing “Asiong Salonga”? “Hindi naman. Kaya lang, since I’m a Regal contract star, dapat lang talagang bigyan ko ng priority ang ‘Yesterday Today Tomorrow’. So sa parade, sa float ng Regal ako sasakay.”
