Comedian Ariel's Mommy Elvie Fulfills Her Wishes Now That She'S 84

GMA NEWS TV’s “Mommy Elvie at 18” will have its season finale this Saturday before “Balitanghali” and we previewed some of its episodes. The show is titled “Mommy Elvie at 18” because Mommy Elvie’s request is to fulfill 18 wishes on her 84th birthday. Episodes showing her fulfilling her wishes by giving food to street children, helping homeless people and entertaining old people in the Home for the Aged are very touching. In the Home for the Aged episode, a tearful Mommy Elvie confessed that her only son, comedian Ariel Villasanta, didn’t grow up attached to her as he was closer to her younger sister. But now, it’s Ariel and wife Cristina Decena who are taking good care of her, especially with her stricken by a deadly illness of which she has yet to be informed.

Ariel and Cristina are supposed to wed anew in the U.S. after their weddings in Hongkong, Thailand and Japan but this didn’t push through as planned. “Na-Ondoy kasi yung passport ni Ariel with his U.S. visa,” says Cristina. “Nasira yung picture niya and according to the U.S. embassy, he has to apply for a new one. Sa December 23 pa ang interview sa kanya kaya baka sa new year na kami umalis and have our wedding in Las Vegas.”

Is it true they almost separated? “Tampuhan lang. Naospital si Ariel due to overfatigue at nang bisitahin ko sa ospital, ayaw niyang magpapunas at magpaalaga. Gusto niya, mag-isa lang siya. Nainis ako. Nagpunta kong Hongkong. Di kami nagkibuan for five days. But when I returned, nagkaintindihan, naayos din agad. Mabait naman siya. Walang bisyo o barkada. Ako lang ang mundo niya. Mas sweet kami ngayon sa isa’t isa.”
