WE WERE one of the writers who first interviewed Chuckie Dreyfus when he was introduced as the sidekick of the late Rudy Fernandez in “Idol”. “That was in 1984 and the movie was premiered in New Frontier Theatre,” he tells us at the launch of “Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles”. “I was 10 years old then. Now, I’m 37. I got married in 2001 when I was 27.”
His wife Eileen is a hotelier and they have two kids, Ralph, 14, and Isabella, 9. But although he’s not active as an actor, he’s still in showbiz doing work as a songwriter and musical scorer. “I wrote ‘Bakit’ for Rachelle Ann Go’s new album. I’ve done scores for TV and for Star Cinema and Viva Films. I have my own recording studio. This year, I returned in front of the camera as the dad of Joyce Ching in ‘Tween Academy’. I’m now managed by Bebong Munoz. GMA first asked me if I’d want to join ‘Survivor’ and I said yes as the prize might help my mom, who now has stage 3 breast cancer. Then they called Isabel Granada to be my partner. I last worked with Isabel in the movie ‘Lessons in Love’ in the 80s pa when we’re still teenagers. Now, pareho na kaming married with kids.”
