INDIE PRODUCER Dennis Evangelista and scriptwriter Boni Ilagan (they teamed up before in “Sigwa”, “Dukot” and “Deadline”) just returned home from Israel where they arranged the location shooting of their next advocacy project, “Migrante (The Filipino Diaspora)”. Director Joel Lamangan says it will be an eye-opener on the real situation of Overseas Filipino Workers: their lives, loves and families. Jodi Sta. Maria heads the cast as an OFW accused of a crime she didn’t commit in the Middle East, with Allen Dizon as her husband. Also in the cast are Joem Bascon, Robert Arevalo, Raquel Villavicencio, Jim Pebanco, Chynna Ortaleza, Rich Asuncion, Alex Castro, Regine Angeles, Vaness del Moral, Angeli Nicole Sanoy, May-I Fabros. Migrante International, the NGO that assists beleaguered OFWs all over the world, will be the consultant. “Several stories about the sad plight of OFWs have remained unsolved cases and they need to be told. It’s about time we expose the sad plight of our countrymen who don’t get much needed support from our government, our people and even their own families. This is our homage to them,” says Direk Joel who wants to commence the shooting of this movie soon, now that his filmfest entry “Hototay” has been shelved.
