They were just sweethearts when they did the first two films. What’s the difference now that they’re a married couple? “Dati pag naunang natapos ang scene ko, I can leave na. But now, hindi ko siya puedeng basta iwan kasi sabay kami going and from the set. But were much more at home now with each other kasi mas kilala na namin ang isa’t isa after living as husband and wife for more than two years.” Judy Ann Santos also now has mommy duties after giving birth to Lucho
Their marital relationship is not always a bed of roses. They admit having conflicts. “Importante yung mga tampuhan kasi you learn a lot from it. You use it as a stepping stone for you both to realize what needs to be fixed in your marriage. Tapos magkakaroon kayo uli ng chance na maglambingan.”
Director Joey Reyes says it’s a joy to work with the couple. “I don’t go to the set for work. We go there to enjoy each other’s company. Juday prepares for me the same breakfast that she makes for Ryan. Masaya kaming lahat dahil masaya sila.”
Juday won best actress for their past films. Will it be Ryan’s turn now since he’s the title-roler? “I don’t know what my chances are of winning as best actor. As a host, I can gauge my chances, but as an actor, talagang ninenerbiyos ako rito. I’m just glad that I have Direk Joey as our director and I get great support from my wife and from Eugene Domingo who plays my best friend in the story. They all give me great words of encouragement. All I can say is mas maganda ito than the past films we did, which should be the case kasi ang lalaki ng kalaban naman this filmfest. Kami yung underdog versus the giants in the industry.”
