Sarah Lahbati is ripe for stardom

SARAH LAHBATI felt sad when she auditioned for “Blusang Itim” before but didn’t make it. “I never lost hope na mabibigyan din ako ng sarili kong break and now, it finally happens in ‘Kokak’ that starts airing on Monday,” she says at the show’s launch.

“Kokak”, about a frog that turns into a beautiful woman, is based on a komiks novel filmed by Seiko in 1989 starring Rachel Lobangco. Because of “Kokak”, Sarah’s character in “Time of My Life” had to make an early exit. “When I learned about it, niloko ko ang mother ko,” says Sarah. “I said Ma, inalis ako sa ‘Time of My Life’. She asked why, looking sad, so I told her ‘Kasi they gave me a new show na akong bida.’ We’re both so happy about it. Pero siempre, magkahalo ang excitement at nerbiyos kasi it means I’ll carry the show kaya I keep on praying na sana, mag-rate.”

She really prepared for the role. “I had acting workshops, solo and with my co-stars led by TJ Trinidad and JC Tiuseco na ngayon ko pa lang makakatrabaho so we need to be more comfortable with each other. I also went on diet kasi may scenes na medyo sexy pag nag-transform ako from frog to human being. For greater stamina, I also jujitsu and martial arts lessons.”

Also in the cast are Jessa Zaragoza and Gary Estrada as her parents, Caridad Sanchez, Deborah Sun, Vaness del Moral, Frencheska Farr, Ervic Vijandre, directed by Ricky Davao who says Sarah is really ripe for stardom.
