Xian is all set to embark on a new career as singer-songwriter. His idol is Ogie Alcasid. “Singer-songwriter siya, but also an actor. I’ll be super happy to work with him someday.” His own composition “Ako’y Sa’Yo Lamang” is now a bonafide hit as the theme song of “Binondo Girl”. He says Kim was his inspiration in writing it. So is he really wooing Kim now? “No, hindi pa. So many doors are opening for me so I’d want to concentrate sa work muna.”
Xian plays the piano professionally. His mom is a piano teacher and she started teaching him how to play the piano as a child. His favorite pieces then were the classical pieces of Van Cliburn. He also plays the guitar, the cello and the xaxophone. “Marami na kong compositions. Lately, tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho ko, wala kong mental block. Dream ko is to have my own album . I’m now also taking voice lessons to improve my singing.”
He now has a YouTube channel, youtube.com/user/XianLim8, where he uploads videos of him singing and playing the piano. It already got more than 100,000 hits. A short video featuring behind-the-scenes clips of the “Ako’y Sa’yo Lamang” music video shoot and the official music video of the song itself is also in it. His recent stint in Star Magic’s benefit show with him singing and playing the piano was one of the most applauded numbers.
Xian, who endorses Mint and Orotime Italian Jewelry, was born in San Francisco but grew up in Daly City. His parents are separated. His dad is cager Godofredo Lim who used to be with UE and PBL. He came home three years ago to play baskbetball for UE then someone discovered him in modelling and then he joined showbiz in ABS-CBN’s “My Only Hope”. “That’s when I realized nasa acting pala ang puso ko.” Kim has two other leading men in “Binondo Girl”: Jolo Revilla and Matteo Guidicelli. Who’ll get her in the end? “I don’t know. Pero sana ako.
