Ai Ai De Las Alas Prefers Box Office Success Than Winning Another Award

AI AI DE LAS ALAS was named FAMAS best actress award for “Tanging Ina Mo Rin” at the FAMAS rites held recently at the NCCA. This is her third award for this film as she also won the 2010 Metro Filmfest and Star Award best actress trophies for it. “It’s an honor kasi FAMAS is FAMAS,” she says. “Ako raw ang unang all out comedienne na nanalo ng best actress sa kanila since they started in 1952. Nakakatuwa naman kasi unexpected talaga ito. Matatapos nang taon, humihirit pa ko ng best actress award. Bongga, di ba?”

If not for Ai Ai, we wouldn’t know the FAMAS still exists. Ai Ai herself took the initiative to publicize her winning the best actress award. The FAMAS had free publicity because of Ai Ai’s efforts. Admit it or not, the FAMAS has lost its luster as the most coveted award in the local film industry, especially now that it’s divided into two factions, both claiming that they’re the legit one. The first thing they should do now is to refurbish the image of FAMAS by being the first award-giving body to hand out its trophies in 2012. Imagine, it’s already December and it’s just now that they gave out their awards for 2010. How pathetic.
