Bossa Nova Queen Sitti Mourns For The Passing Of Her Dad She Just Met In April

THE PASSING YEAR will be a most memorable one for Bossa Nova Queen Sitti Navarro. “Napakaraming nangyari sa personal life at career ko,” she says. She broke up with her non-showbiz boyfriend of four years in January. In April, she went to Zamboanga to personally meet her father, a Muslim, who she hasn’t seen at all. She also met her half-siblings there. Last month, her dad passed due to heart disease. Read related article, Bossa Nova Sitti Navarro on meeting her Muslim dad who left them when she was an infant.

“I wasn’t able to see him right away as the dead has to be buried in 24 hours sa mga Muslim. But I got to visit his grave later. I’m glad I got the opportunity to meet him before he left. I realized kaya pala my heart was whispering to me at pinapupunta ko sa Mindanao to meet him, kasi kukunin na pala siya few months later. I was indifferent nung una kasi I was raised without him. But when we met, it dawned on me, may tatay talaga ako and it’s him.”

Career-wise, she can’t complain. Her last album with two of her own compositions did well. As part of ASAP Sessionistas, she was able to do shows in Kuwait and six cities in the U.S. She had a successful concert at Music Museum “Ang Aking Awitin” in September, and now, as 2011 ends, she’s having another one in the same venue on December 29, Thursday, “MRS Sitti”, that will help victims of Typhoon Sendong in Mindanao. “MRS doesn’t mean misis na ako, ha. It means Most Requested Songs. My guests are Brigada, Duncan Ramos and Martin Nievera.”

Ticket prices at P800, P1,200 and P1,500 are available at Ticketworld (tel. no. 891-9999), Music Museum (721-0635). For inquiries, call Backroom at 435-1108 and 435-1120 or e-mail at backroominc@hotmail.com
