WE GOT TO interview Chuckie Dreyfus at the presscon for the remaining “Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles” at Old Spaghetti House. Two days after that, he was voted out in the Tribal Council that followed. He’ll now be the first member of the jury for the finale in February. Was he surprised that he was eliminated? “No, I felt relieved na rin kasi talagang by that time, masama na ang pakiramdam ko.” There was a time he was annoyed when Maribel Lopez said she doesn’t care if his mom is dying of cancer. “I was really hurt because I never used my mom’s sickness to remain in ‘Survivor’. Pero napatawad ko na siya roon.”
What did he miss the most while he’s in the island? “Siempre my wife and our two kids. But it’s my kids who pushed me to join the show kasi fans sila ng ‘Survivor’ even before. So when I got an invitation, natuwa sila. Sige dad, sali na. But when they’re watching na yung mga traydrurang nangyari sa show, they were affected. So I told them na it’s just a game, kaya wag na silang paapekto.”
Who does he think would win? “I want to go for the underdog, so sana si Betong o si Maey. Kasi napakabait din nila’t mahusay makisama.”
For a while, he’s seen in two shows on primetime as he’s also a mainstay in “Daldalita” with Isabel Granada. “Blessing talaga ang ‘Survivor’ kasi na-revive ang acting career ko. Nanibago rin ako noong una as I haven’t acted for a while, but after one day lang, I realized I still have it. Isabel and I play Ashton and Demi, a super rich but childless couple, so gusto naming makuha si Jillian Ward as Daldalita. Masaya kami sa set, parang family lahat and Jillian is so malambing. This week, pinagtapat na namin kay Daldalita na kaya lang siya pinagtabuyan ni Ogie Alcasid as Mateo is because we asked Mateo to do it para mas mapalapit sa’min ang loob niya. Ang dating piping si Daldalita, nakakapagsalita na ngayon ng diretso at salitang bakla pa ang natutuhan. We’ll take her to Mateo and tell Mateo na iaatras na namin ang legal adoption process for Daldalita sa korte para siya na ang mag-alaga sa bata.”
