How did her back taxes problem with the BIR start? “I had a manager then (named Diane) who took care of everything for me. But apparently, she didn’t pay my taxes. I’m a foreigner and she’s supposed to guide me. Now, my lawyer is running after her. After my contract with her expired last year, I didn’t renew. After two weeks, the problem with the BIR came up. Sinumbong pala niya ako. The BIR is asking P2 million from me for back taxes. Masakit kasi she benefitted so much from me as I’m her main talent. But she was not aware that she’s also liable for a certain percentage as all my contracts then were under her name.”
She’s going home to her native Brazil before Christmas but not to escape from the BIR. She’ll just attend the wake of a relative. “I will come back here as I want to stay in the Philippines for good. I have a working visa. That’s why nga I’m selling ang mga gamit ko so I can pay the BIR.”
She admits 2011 is a bad year for her. The BIR not only ran after her but she also had a bad breakup with Director GB Sampedro who she almost married. “Nasunog pa ang condo ko,” she sighs. “I’m just hoping 2012 will be a better year for me.”
