It’s said that award is really a jinx. “I researched sa internet kung totoo but ang daming nanalo ng same award na sumikat naman, from Tonton Gutierrez and Eric Quizon to Gerald Anderson and Zanjoe Marudo. Sa mga babae, ang nanalo, sina Kim Chiu, Lovi Poe, sumikat naman sila, so hindi totoo.”
He’s glad that after “The Road”, he’ll next be seen in the filmfest entry, “My Househusband: Ikaw Na” with Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. On TV, he’s still in “Tween Hearts” every Sunday. “Babalik na si Kylie Padilla kaya siya na uli ang kapareha ko,” he says. “As of now kasi, ka-love triangle lang ako nina Bea Binene and Jake Vargas sa show.” He also cultivates his singing career. He’s part of the Tweens Christmas album where he sings “O Holy Night”.
Born on August 1, 1995, Derrick has such a winning, zany personality. He is the second of three kids of former actress Tina Monasterio. “I have a 25-year old older sister and a 14-year old younger sister. My dad is a Jamaican-Italian-American. His name is George Crimarco. He supported while I was growing up, but first time ko pa lang siya nakita last year as he’s based in Miami. Dahil sa kanya, I’m a U.S. citizen. But he has stopped to send support kasi artista na raw ako.”
He says all his earnings go to his mom. “I’m just given an allowance.” Does he have his own car now? “No, sa mom ko lang. I don’t know how to drive.” But he was shown driving in “The Road”. “Kunwari lang yun. Hinihila lang yung car doon,” he laughs.
When did he become aware his mom was an ‘artista’? “Bata pa ko. We’d see her old movies on TV, like ‘Bato sa Buhangin’ with Vilma Santos and FPJ. Her last movie was ‘Hibla’ with Maui Taylor.”
He says he’s a certified virgin and has never had a girlfriend. Is he still wooing Sarah Lahbati? “Hindi na. I haven’t texted her for three weeks na.
