DIMPLES ROMANA had a grand time playing her role as the nasty witch Ruanna in the “Parola” episode of “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13”. “It’s difficult as they have to apply heavy prosthetic make up on me para papangitin ako ng husto,” she tells us at the film’s presscon. “But it’s worth it as the role is good even if it’s short at ang sarap kasing manakot ng tao.”
In the story, she and Julia Clarete (who failed to attend the lunch presscon as she’s hosting ‘Eat Bulaga’) are rival “mangkukulams” during the Spanish regime who died fighting each other. Every year, their spirits have a showdown again inside an ancient lighthouse where they possess the bodies of younger girls to carry out their malevolent acts against each other. In their most recent incarnation, they possess the bodies of teeners Louise de los Reyes and Kathryn Bernardo who are also fighting because of one guy, Sam Concepcion.
“Yung climax ng story namin showing us all our evil powers against each other is truly scary and also nakakadiri kasi may mga uod involved,” adds Dimples. “Magaling ang director namin, si Jerrold Tarog, who I got to work with before in ‘Senior Year’, as all the scary scenes really work.”
